Tran Vu Arts at Wellesley College

On April 24, 2025, artist and cultural organizer Ngoc-Tran Vu had the honor of speaking with students at Wellesley College about the power of community-led arts to shape public memory, inspire advocacy, and build intergenerational connections. Drawing from her leadership on the 1975: Vietnamese Diaspora Memorial project, Ngoc-Tran shared insights into how storytelling, cultural preservation, and public art intersect to uplift histories that are often overlooked or marginalized.

The conversation invited students to think critically about the role of artists and communities in reclaiming narratives and fostering healing through creative expression. Ngoc-Tran also reflected on her own journey and the importance of mentorship, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her longtime mentor and friend, Dr. Soo Hong, for her unwavering support and dedication to empowering future generations through education. It was a meaningful exchange, rooted in reflection, resilience, and the collective power of community-driven work.
